Polyethnic University of Timisoara (UPT) is one of the biggest technical universities from Central and Eastern Europe, ranked in Romania within the class „Education and Advanced Research Universities”. Since the founding of the university in 1920 were continuously enlarged the areas of technical interest and developed valuable activities in education and research, as an answer to the need for engineers of the Romanian society in the context of the post WW1 economic recovery. The study programs are organized according to the Bologna paradigm. Over 13000 students are registered on various levels (Bachelor, Master, Doctoral and Postdoctoral). UPT is organized in 10 faculties and 25 departments, where work nearly 650 teachers and roughly 500 administrative personnel. The existence of 25 research centers, in which research teams successfully put into practice the research strategy of the institution, offer the university its international prestige and at the same time, provide funding sources for its development.
